Return of the Cast - With the writers back in full force, the RalSky cast crew whips up a short podcast. With the first episode of the year, they catch up on what has been going since the last cast. Some downtown topics include the new outdoor music venue, the numerous lists that Raleigh made recently, and a few construction updates. Runtime: 24:35

Here is a link to a sample DoctorPatter Stat Pack mention in the podcast.

Is that a plane I hear in the background at around the 12:45 mark?

    Also, first!

Sweet, now we can appropriately bash the team’s conversations all we want.

Are there any more projects in the works to go along with the new amphitheater downtown? I guess Nash Square/Warehouse area would be closest to it… businesses there would certainly reap the benefits of a permanent outdoor venue.

Green Square is finally moving forward. Any new renderings to share with us? Did not realize this project was on a large portion of two blocks.

Understand CAM will be breaking ground very soon (retail and 15 story building next to the museum).

Matt: I don’t see a poll about it yet (like you mentioned in the podcast), but I thought I’d comment on your idea of releasing pictures individually versus doing them all in one big monthly update. Personally, I think it would be great to have a few new pictures every week versus one big update. It would give me a reason to come back to the site more often than I currently do, and it would make it much easier for visitors to comment on particular images (instead of stuff like “I really like the one just under the picture of the buildings with the stuff”). Either way, I still look forward to your photos. Genuine eye candy. :-)

    Just my $0.02.

Garland: Yeah, that is a plane. I didn’t notice that while we were recording it. We were actually indoors recording this time, and both of us wear headphones now, so I guess we didn’t hear it at the time. Nice catch.

I believe that Matt will put out a new skyline rendering at some point with these new updates.

Thanks for listening guys. (Also, we have cleared all other comment pages off the front page, a podcast first!)

TC, no new renderings have been released on Green Square - what you saw is probably what you will get. The entire project will not cover two blocks, as the signs can easily mislead you into believing. There is a parking deck for the area West of Green Square, which will provide additional parking spaces. I think that the state legislators found a way to tie these two projects, particularly now that NC SECU will not be a partner in Green Square, as originally planned.

    Ernest,

    Thanks for your feedback.

Thus, a parking deck will be on the West side block. Tell me they are designing this deck with retail on the ground level?

If not, is this going to be another Raleigh Downtown grey elephant with blank walls (just like that rediculous building on Glenwood South with the grey parking deck that you see coming in on your right from Capital Blvd. - the Morgan Keegan building, why doesn’t City Council/someone request that grey wall be painted/Do Something With it?)

  8. Ernest wrote:

The parking deck will not have much of retail space, if any at all. I know that the City of Raleigh tried, but the state officials said they couldn’t make the numbers work :( I wish the state government was a little more respectful of our efforts as a city. BTW, Green Square will include underground parking.

Hey, have you guys ever considered having guests on the Podcast?

  10. Official Dustin wrote:

We are open to whatever. What kind of guest are you thinking about?

  11. Garland wrote:

Maybe a local politician, business owner, candidate for local office, etc. who might be able to office some insight or opinions on Raleigh growth and development, local news and politics. I work for a Congressional candidate who might be interested in being a guest on one…
