You do Raleigh great and I look foward for more. It has grown a lot since I have moved away.
Lived in Raleigh from 1965-1973

Get over here in Charlotte in 2010 when most of our projects well be done. I know how you can make a city shine.

If they wish to be noticed, they should improve the appearance of their buildings. Maybe Wachovia would pay for a nice spire that will push Wachovia Capital Center to over 550ft, just to piss off RBC and BB&T

That Father & Son's Antiques angle is remarkable. Perfect time of day to take a shot like that.

Today's News And Observer says Wachovia is planning to put its logo on top of its 30 story tower. Wachovia wants to be noticed like BB&T and RBC which have or will have logos on top of their towers.

Currently, the work that is being done is on the caisson drilling, which explains why the progress is not visible. If you want to read more on the construction of Soleil Center 1, read this article, courtesy of Raleigh Chronicle:

http://www.raleigh2.com/default.asp?sourceid=&smenu=1&twindow=&mad=&sdetail=574&wpage=1&skeyword=&sidate=&ccat=&ccatm=&restate=&restatus=&reoption=&retype=&repmin=&repmax=&rebed=&rebath=&subname=&pform=&sc=2502&hn=raleigh2&he=.com

In the usual fashion of "can't get the facts straight" Raleigh Chronicle states that 470ft Soleil Center 1 will be the tallest building in Raleigh. Well, not really, considering that RBC Plaza will reach 538ft and the 38-story component of The Edison that will reach about 525ft. For those who wonder why I say Soleil Center 1, keep in mind that Soleil Group has purchased the adjacent 3-story building and is planning to build an 18-20 story mixed-use high-rise, labeled Soleil Center 2.

At North Hills, they removed the crane from the Renaissance Hotel site. Now, they are placing it across from there, to be used for CAPTRUST Tower.

There is nothing to see at the Soleil Center site, just three or so cranes not being used. Once some real construction begins, I'm sure you'll start to see some pictures.

In Brier Creek, there doesn't look to be anything new going on. Most of the office developments are already done and some are in use. There is works of a new housing community further down the road, towards Page Road.

I don't know about North Hills East.

TC, I think there will be retail there. I went by and took photos, earlier today, and I noticed a large area suitable for retail. I expect The Edison to offset any negative impact the parking deck may have on either side of the block. The deck could have looked better, but it could have looked MUCH worse, too.

The buildings still standing will - most likely - stay there. I would think that anyone willing to pay big bucks could put his hands on them, but it is very unlikely to happen any time soon.

Anybody see that beautiful parking deck facing City Market? Another downtown Raleigh parking deck that is a work of art (yeh, right).
There should be retail along that side of the street across from City Market (since City Market has no vision to expand, retail would have been a great addition to this area)

Are the remaining old buildings going to stay or just a few?
