Here is a preview look at the Arnold Palmer designed North Carolina State University Lonnie Poole Golf course, located inside the beltline near the NCSU Centennial Campus and the NC Farmers Market. Looks like it should be opening spring/summer this year. It offers a great view of the Raleigh skyline…

Matt, do you EVER get rest?

Seriously, this is a great angle, although it shows how small our skyline is. Now, if they can build a 5-6 story building near the golf, it would offer a magnificent view, IMO. Great place for Beau to have fun ;) Thanks for the images!!!

What a pathetic name for a golf course (sounds like it belongs in the sticks instead of it’s urban setting). Noone will be calling it by that name (will be calling it Centennial Course)

I think the donation given by that “pathetic name for a golf course” is the reason there is a golf course in the spring of 2009. Just be happy it got built…its been a long time coming for NCSU!!

If anyone is interested, the road extension (Main Campus Drive) is now open. It connects from the Alumni Center to the Centennial Middle School to Trailwood Drive. You can get to I-440 via Gorman from there.

The name comes from the person funding the project so you have a new place to play

This was a fantastic way to add on to the Triangle and NCSU. And did we seriously just win the NCAA in golf when this got finished? Sweet.
