MINI CITY WOOOO!!!

no, not really. the only thing good about Mini City is the Taco Bell. IMHO, Mini City is a joke.

I live relatively close to Mini City, actually...off of New Hope Road

My office is 2 blocks from Mini City... It is its own little microcosm. Mini City is the best representation of all of the ethnicities represented in Raleigh (Raleigh's Melting Pot, if you will). IMO It still makes me laugh, but it is a great place to get lunch b/c of all the different nationalities and styles of restaruants in such a small area. YEAH MINI CITY, the best suburban strip mall in all of Raleigh!! ROTFLMAO

So I was on Glenwood South last night about across from the Bruegger's, and I realized I could see RBC Plaza's crown all lit up poking up over the buildings. It was cool.... to me, at least.

I vote for leveling that soybean processing plant on south Blount street and putting an arena there. I realize that facility has been there for a long time, but as DTR develops, it belongs there less and less.

I keep meaning to get over to the Boylan Brewpub and check out the "new view" there since it's opened, but I have not had a chance to, yet. I did, however, pop into Piccola Italia this afternoon for an early dinner - I seem to keep missing a friend of mine there. *cough cough* :)

I love the "No skyline for you" photo. It gave me a nice chuckle. lol The floral shots are terrific. Which reminds me, can I complain about the neglect to the flower beds along the southern beltline? They look horrible.

Great job as always, Matt. Already looking forward to the next series!

Ideally, yes, but the parcel is not large enough to host an arena, even with the addition of a few more parcels. Directly to the East of the lot is the railroad tracks and to the North is the Amtrak station. In the past, this was selected to be the site for the 8-story Metropolitan but Progress Energy took it over - in a hostile fashion, if I am not mistaken... In a way, this parcel is "landlocked". Your idea is good, though. An arena would make an ideal transitional project, since not many developers would build right next to the railroad tracks.

the land slated for a power substation seems like it would be a cool place to put an arena. maybe tear up a few surrounding blocks. placed next to the new convention center, that would seem like a great driver of future hotel growth downtown....smh, only raleigh would do this

Nice shots as always. Some really clear days for pictures.

THe Durham pics reminded me of something. All the development around the ball park is good, but it is gradually blocking the best view of the Durham skyline, IMO: Sitting on the 1st base side of the park during a game. We've had seats there the last few years and before Diamond Veiw 2 was built, you could actually see everything really nicely. Once they finally build Diamond View 3 behind the left field Hit Bull Win Steak sign, it will all be gone.
