Downtown Raleigh Amphitheater

Monday, June 7th, 2010

I know visitors come to RaleighSkyline.com for pictures of the Backstreet Boys, so I won’t disappoint you. I captured a few images during the last few songs on Sunday night at the Downtown Raleigh Amphitheater from the adjacent Convention Center parking garage.

Snow in Raleigh on January 30, 2010

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Scenes from the January 29-30 snowfall in Raleigh, North Carolina. It appears we got about 5 inches around downtown, though in some spots the accompanying sleet compacted it to less. UPDATE: Clear skies on January 31.

Rare Atmospheric Optics over Raleigh

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

If you looked to the sky last night around Raleigh, the moon and atmospheric ice crystals put on a show. I’m no expert, but I think I’ve identified several rare phenomena that were visible.

In this first image, there appears to be Parry Arc, faint Parhelic circle, and 22º halo.
