I understand this is totally off-but as a former resident of Raleigh who now lives in Phonex due to wifes health, State Farm just announced a 600 million dollar project in Tempe-west of Phoenix, and we have a 40 story observation tower planning for downtown Phoenix call the PIN-Raleigh is a great town but until some of its leaders take advantage of the nice things about this area it will not grow to be what it could be, I lived in Raleigh almost 10 years and it seems like the city leaders could not get it together, take advantage of RTP-and the large pool of highly educated people and this town will grow and be great, just don’t ever be an Atlanta-was visiting our daughter last month, forgot about the rain and pollen, good luck to everyone

Soil Testing has begun at the site of Skyhouse Raleigh. They’ve been testing there for a couple weeks. a few stakes are marked. Also saw some soil testing across the parking deck next to RedHat global HQ, prepping for those apartments. Also saw this somewhere else downtown but blanking as to where.

also, City is acquiring most of block East of Moore Square. New Salvation Army should be finished soon and hopefully the rescue mission will move with it which will set up a potentially nice site for a new mixed use project.

That’s the hope. However, I will point out that the RRM property is not one of those that the city is to buy. The RRM tried to move a few years ago but were rebuffed by residents on New Bern. This is the city buying the Gordon Smith property that they’ve had their eye on for some time. If done properly, it could be a big boost for Bloodworth, with the Lincoln going right across from it.
